Freedom Farms is a trauma-informed nonprofit organization focused on prison reentry and at-risk youth development. We support formerly incarcerated individuals transitioning back into the community after the debilitating experience of incarceration, and youth at-risk of justice involvement, through a healing-centered reentry model based in land conservation management, sustainable agriculture, and holistic support. Utilizing the therapeutic power of land stewardship, in a rural setting, combined with wraparound support, we facilitate emotional recovery, skill development, and lasting community integration for the individuals we serve.

Starting in 2023, some men who were exiting the carceral system began working and learning on our main farm site. They also participated in the Rogue Valley Farmers & Crafters Markets in Medford and Ashland, Oregon to engage in positive social interaction with the community. Over the last three years our programs have expanded to include a robust Youth Development Program and Women’s Diversion Program.
Freedom Farms is closely partnered with Golden Rule Reentry, Rogue Valley Growers Market, Southern Oregon Youth Works, and many other organizations in the Rogue Valley.
Our youth development program utilizes land stewardship practices, specifically wildfire mitigation and restoration initiatives to engage transition-aged youth (16-24) in meaningful environmental work.
We offer programs for formerly incarcerated men and women, as well as a specialty Women’s Diversion Program to offer an alternative to justice system involvement.
We offer a variety of programs including gardening and farming, community engagement at local farmers markets, mind/body health practices such as Tai-Chi and meditation, coaching, and trauma-informed therapeutic support.
